Vital Proof

What causes a decline in hormones? Men naturally produce 10-20 times as much testosterone as women do. Among men there is a normal distribution allowing for some to be naturally higher in testosterone than others.

Small Doses

Male Menopause | Balance your intake of complex carbohydrates, and you may, in fact, feel happier.

All men have a peak in testosterone output a few years after adolescence followed by a gradual decline until mid-40s to age 50. At this point, most men drop off sharply for many years after which they resume a gradual decline for the rest of their lives. During this abrupt drop, men often notice a significant change in their moods and physical capacities. These sudden changes can be distressing and hard to accept.

What are your treatment options?
Since menopause is caused by a decline in the hormone testosterone, the most direct treatment is to supplement with testosterone pre-cursors and herbal support with the goal of restoring blood levels to those enjoyed in the mid-20s to mid-30s. An important part of the treatment process is regular monitoring of progress, prostate and blood levels to assure the dosage of testosterone used is adequate and not excessive. Most commonly, mood improvement is noticed in the first several weeks. In the first 1-3 months of treatment men notice their body composition is improving and they are looking forward to exercise again. Typically by 3-6 months men are also noticing healthier erections and more enjoyment of sex.

When properly monitored, side effects of therapy are quite rare. Long-term complications are not expected. Some men who are slightly to moderately testosterone-deficient may have the option of pursuing exercise and a modified diet with the goal of maintaining higher testosterone without treatment. Men who are more significantly deficient or unable to achieve significant lifestyle modification generally prefer replacement therapy.
